The essentials of playing Russian Solitaire

A clear plan starts with the current position. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Select cards directly on the tableau and work through a full solo deal. Take the next action only when the current step is clear. Keep the active rule in mind. Move any face-up card and its tail onto the next higher rank of the same suit. Kings fill empty columns. The same rule applies on a phone and on a computer.

Yukon-style deal, same-suit building, no stock. Free solo play, no wagering.

Bring this focus to a round

Treat this as a chance to practise one rule. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot. Check the relevant controls before continuing.

The purpose of your moves

  2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
  3. Move exposed cards onto suit foundations in the stated rank order.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Choosing and moving on screen

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Use another round to revisit a decision. Take a moment to read the table.

Work through an example

A heart 6 fits a heart 7, not a spade 7. Check the relevant controls before continuing.

Where a round can go wrong

For a calm first round, focus on one decision. Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Return to the explanation when a decision is unclear.
